IR Signature Control Low Emissivity Tape™ is used exclusively by the U.S. Army for its Combat Identification Panels (CIP). These panels are used to reduce friendly fire incidents among allied ground forces and represent an integral part of today’s Joint Combat Identification Marking system (JCIMS). CIPs are typically mounted on the sides of vehicles. Thermal Identification Panels (TIP), also utilize IR Signature Control Low Emissivity Tape™, and are typically mounted on the hood and/or back of the vehicle. TIP are soft panels and can be folded up for storage, while CIP are hard panels and permanently affixed to vehicles.
