The BNVD utilizes MIL SPEC optics. It also uses head and helmet mounting options from the AN/PVS-7B/D, AN/PVS-14, AN/PVS-7A/C, AN/PVS-15 and AN/PVS-18 and AN/PVS-23.

Switching from one mounting system to another can be accomplished by the end user within minutes.  Mounting options include dovetail, bayonet and ANVIS.

Power for the BNVD is supplied via one AA battery for up to 10 hours of continuous use. This system is submersible up to 66 feet of water.

The BNVD also uses standard AN/PVS-7B/D and PVS-14 parts and accessories for simplified in-the-field supportability. These parts include demist shields, sacrificial windows, LIFs, lens caps, eyecups, neckcord, soft case, head or helmet mount, IR spot/flood lens, 3X magnifiers & compass assembly.

The BNVD is also available with ANVIS -Blue objectives for air crew use. This blue coloration cannot be detected with night vision.

The eye pieces rotate out of the operators view when not in use.  It is not necessary to flip the goggles on top of the head and risk damaging them or injuring the user when entering or exiting buildings or vehicles.
